Urgent! Need help - I told my parents.

we have just gotten home from sunday-meeting, when my mom ask me if i believe in god and so on.

so i tell her, cause you adviced me to be honest.

and despite all my fears, she took it very calm, and then told my dad whos also taking it calm, and it doesnt seem like theyre hating me now or want to throw me out of the house.. the thing is.

You are right ... I did nothing to justify JW doctrines. Since filip lives in a Christian household, if he has a question on doctrine, I'm sure his parents can help him.

'Would he consider opinions of strangers who've had the same experiences '.... Well, I'm in that catagory too!!!!

filip is 15 years old. Should he even be on the net? Don't you agree that someone his age should still be monitored by his parents? Seeing what I see here is an eye opener! Children have no right posting here or anywhere else for that matter ... without parental consent.

Good to see you are a thinking person. You won't recognize me on this site, as I only look in once in a while. Your posts intigue me. When I was 15 years old, I felt a lot the same as you do. There was no internet back then and no one in the cong. that I felt I could talk to. I soon started looking at my mother as a 'no nothing'. Again, not unusual for your age.

After a few years away from the JWs, I sure appreciate them now! Believe me ... there is nothing out there that is any better than what you have. By your own admission, you live with two loving parents. Do they beat you? Do you have food and shelter? Do they have your best interests at heart ... more so than these people here ... who you only know by way of your computer?

By all means ... give the study a chance! Don't expect it to do any good if you are still posting here behind your parents backs. If you are so sure of the 'help' you are getting here, show your posts to your parents or an elder.

I am so disappointed that you could allow yourself to be swayed by complete strangers here and yet allow your family to spiritually and physically support you. I've been there .. done that. Do yourself a favor and GET OUT OF HERE!!!!

Does the Bible scare anyone else here sometimes?

maybe i'm just messed up, but i get really freaked out sometimes.

i can't understand the bible,.....in some places it seems like it's saying all you have to do is one or two things, then it seems like it's saying you have to do different things to be saved.... so many different people and religions have so many different takes on the bible.

i don't know which to beleive, and it scares me that if i beleived the wrong thing that i could go to hell, or just go to sleep forever as the witnesses say.

What does that tell me about my beliefs, their beliefs and their religions? How could you possibly know their beliefs are stronger than mine? I doubt very much that you are intimately aquainted with that many people to know their true inner feelings. You certainly don't know mine.

What it does tell me is that I am among hundreds of thousands who are devout believers in our chosen faiths.

You say you are giving yourself a few days before you tell them how you feel. Are you refering to the elders? If you are planning to move an hour and a half away why not just say good bye to everyone and move. No one has to know your decision. This way you aren't commited in any way and also give yourself time to think things out without any pressure.

When I was eighteen I had ALL the answers. Life has a way of teaching us that all the terrific looking things on the other side of the fence aren't so green close up. Just take your time, you aren't missing out on as much as you think you are.

You all sound like a group of very nice people. I did not come on here to argue scriptures. Most of you are as familiar with the bible as I am. We can agree to disagree. My worry is that Missy will make a huge mistake, one she could very much regret in the future. My hope for her is to be sure of all her options now. Wishing everyone the best,

Would you please read over all my postings here? Is there anythere there that says to you that I mean you any harm? I'm afraid someday you will look back at this and wish you'd listened. Your friend wants what is best for you - listen to her.

Whatever decision you make now will be lifealtering. You COULD return to the society someday but the likelyhood is quite small. Before you make a final decision go to one of the elders ans ask for help. Most on this site will poo-poo that idea but try it. Worry about your own future, not what any of us has to say. What have you got to lose if you are planning to leave anyway?
